Home remedies

Recently I've discovered a lot of small bits of information that have been very beneficial so I thought I would share:
  • Rubbing vix vapor rub on the bottom of my children's feet and then putting socks on them at bedtime helps my kids not to cough at night. (When they are sick with coughs)

  • Just today I cut up a serrano chili pepper and then washed my hands thinking all the remnants were gone, then I rubbed my eye, OUCH! Those chilis would not come off my skin no matter how many times I washed. So I googled what to do and found from a blog that "washing" your hands with olive oil will get the chilis off your skin. Thank you fellow blogger! Now I can take my contact lenses out tonight!

  • If you have a mosquito bite and don't have any calamine around to put on it and it's itching like crazy you can make a paste with a little baking soda and water and apply to the itchy area and it will stop! Love it.
I think I had a few more that I can't remember right now but I'm making a new label and will be sure to post when I find these things.

  2. I LOVE home remedies! My grandma was big on the vapor rub...but we usually got it on our chest! I have The Queen of Clean book and she has a ton of ideas for home remedies like this. I love it! One thing I have yet to try though...TANG to clean my toilet!

...We did find out that white toothpaste takes out permanent ink from white furniture too. (the reason we know this still makes me fume...aaarrrrrgh!)

Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to hear more!
