Thank You

Last night I went to bed around 10:30 and slept five hours straight. When I woke up around 3:30 at first I didn't know where I was, then I realized that Wyatt had not made a peep since I put him down at 9:00. Then an extreme feeling of gratitude came over me, so much that I could not go back to sleep for another 45 minutes. Pretty pathetic right? I guess I am one of the many who despite all the sleep books and advice in the world, has a sleepless child. And my second one at that. But last night I felt like I had a champion sleeper and my happiness was overwhelming, so I figure I should give credit where credit is due:

  • Thank you to my first child, Bianca, who since the day of her birth helped lower my expectations of ever having a full night's sleep again.
  • Thanks to the makers of excedrin. They found something to cure my migraines but the side effect is always insomnia.
  • Thank you to my husband who sleeps soundly through each of the childrens middle of the night wakings.
  • Thank you to CSI for keeping me awake by going through scenarios of horrible things that could happen to my loved ones while we sleep.
  • Thank you to the thunderstorms of Ohio which bring Bianca in our bed to sleep for the night while we stay awake.
  • And last but not least, thank you to my pea sized bladder (no pun intended) for waking me at least twice a night on top of the regular 3 or 4 times I get up with the kids.

  2. Liz - You are so funny! I enjoyed your post (& sarcasm) very much! I'll be calling you about going to Parky's Farm, maybe Thursday?
    Have a great day,

  3. Very clever.
Wanna know what I do? I kick my husband so he wakes up to deal with the kids. I tell him that my day job is WAY more important than his. If he fails his experiment because he's too tired, he has to re-do it. If I fail with the kids because I'm too tired, ... Yeah, that's my trump card.

  4. OMG-you need to have your doctor prescribe you Fiorinal (I have the generic version). I had a migrane when I was pregnant and it was on the safe list. I keep it around and even used it last night when I woke up with a pounding head. Works in like an hour. Amazing.
Excedrin Migrane sort of works for me.
I'm glad the kids are sleeping better. Makes me realize how lucky I am to have 2 good sleepers, I don't know what I would do.
    Peace,
    JZ
