Day 6 has been a little different in that my left ear hurts and I feel dizzy if I turn my head too quickly or get up too fast. The left side of my throat is super sore all the time. Possibly because the tonsil on that side was more problematic and bigger than the other and I think was part way down my throat as well. I find that keeping the ice pack on that side makes life bearable. The other side is doing fine, doesn't give me too much pain except for right before my next dose of meds is due.
I knew that a long recovery was part of the plan but I have to say this is getting kind of old. Talking still hurts and eating most things still hurts, again mostly on the left side. I'm not due to see the Dr. who did my surgery for another week but I may go in sooner if I feel like this left side pain doesn't subside to the same as the right.
Anyway that is the update. Now would be a good time to leave any comments like, "hang in there Liz, you did the right thing!" ect ect. (:
Ugh...not fun! It took me 2 miserable weeks to heal, but I AM glad I did it. Also, I never set the alarm for my liquid vicodin & woke up religiously every 4 hours for it, so I think that might be normal. I don't know how you are with talking, but I only communicated with kevin through writing the first week or so. Just think: soon you'll be able to swallow more food than ever before, breathing will be easier, you won't have stinky, rotting, nasty things in the back of your throat & you'll be soooo happy you did it. Just hang in there!
ReplyDeletePoor Liz. Maybe sometime later in life you'll be glad you got tonsils out. Maybe not... I mean just hang in there. You did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteWell, now I don't have to say that bc it's day 7 and you feel so much better! There's always that worst part, right?
