I got tagged for this about 3 months ago....sorry I lag. So here's the tag description:
Tell how you and your significant other met and if you have any children their birth stories, post on your blog, then tag 3 other bloggers to do the same. Try not to be too detailed but give us a good story. (:
How we met: Eric and I met in high school. I think we actually went to the same church before that but I don't remember him. Anyway I decided to be a part of the church road show that year. He asked me out for hot chocolate one night after road show practice and then we started dating. We spent most of high school dating. He went on a mission to the Phillipines, I was serious with someone else during his mission. He came home and I wasn't into him. Then I went on a mission to Washington D.C. We wrote a little but not much. I got home, dated other people then went to see Eric's parents for Christmas to say hi. Eric was there and I thought he looked good. We started dating again and got engaged after 3 months.
How did they propose? He proposed on the beach with a Willy Wonka chocolate bar that had the question in it, as the golden ticket, and then got on one knee and proposed. Then we went to Outback Steakhouse, it was perfect. Got married in 2003. We had known each other for 8 years before getting married.
Honeymoon? We went to Kauii. I really wanted to be at the beach. I love the beach.
Birth story (ies): We moved to Utah a year after we were married so Eric could attend U of U for his PHD. ( I was not happy about more schooling by the way but he was getting paid to go so I concurred) The first month we were there we found out we were pregnant and we were so excited. I had just started a new job and Eric was in school full time. I was sick the whole nine months. I took 1/2 pill of unisom and 1 pill of vitamin B6 everyday so I could make it through the day at work without throwing up. I still felt nauseated though. I went into labor naturally a week before she was due. Eric chose her name. I didn't really love it but the deal was that he chooses the name if we had a girl and I for the boy. Sooo after 9 hours of labor I got an epidural, after 20 hours of labor I wasn't progressing and the Dr. needed to get the baby out, also she was not facing the right way and part of my cervix was over her head so they sent me in for a c-section. I was sooo tired and scared. Eric was really scared too. The c-section was not as scary as I thought it would be, but the recovery was. I am a big time wuss so the scar freaked me out and I was afraid of standing up straight for fear that it would rip open and my intestines would flop out. Anyway I was fine, although very protective of my scar area for about a year.
Wyatt was planned. We were suprised that it was a boy when we found out. We both thought I was having another girl. I was sick the same with him, the whole time. It was hard to decide if I should try to deliver him normal or schedule a c-section, the Dr's all told me about the risk of uterine burst and freaked me out. But I decided to go normal, after 4 hours and no progression they offered to give me pitocin, but I had been told earlier that pitocin makes the uterus contract stronger and is putting me at greater risk for the uterus to burst so I went with another c-section or as Eric says - took the easy way out. (He gets smacked every time he says that). It was better this time in a way, that I wasn't so tired from the labor of 20 hours, but the spinal was ewwww, terrible. I remember sitting in the freezing cold operating room sitting up with the back of my gown open and the anesthesiologist had to stick me twice, the first time didn't take. The migraine I had from that shot after the baby was out was worse than labor, it was so bad I couldn't stand up without feeling dizzy or throwing up. It went on for days. Anyway both babies came out healthy and happy. Eric got to see both of them first but he brought them to my head in the operating room before they took them out. I was happy about that. And the 2nd c-section the Dr. did a really nice job with the scar. It looks better than it did after I had Bianca. So now I know for the 3rd, if I decide to have another, I have to go c-section, I won't have a choice to go normal. Oh well. At least I know what to expect right! I think I covered everything!
Ok Now I want to know all of your stories, so I tag any other bloggers who read this, and I'm gonna check your blogs to read your stories. I hope you accept the tag!!
That is a good story of how you and your husband met. You weren't in to him. That sounds like me for a bit of when Jason and I dated. (Before the mish :)
ReplyDeleteI also got a spinal headache from my spinal epidural combo. I thought I was just getting an epidural, but that was not the case. So they actually did a blood patch to correct it. I cannot imagine having to deal with that headache. I bet you were miserable. With the blood patch, they draw blood from your arm and put it back into your spinal column (like another epidural). That forces the fluid back up where it's supposed to be. crazy! I know!
Cute! I didn't know you had 2 C-sections. How did I not know that? All 3 of mine were C's, and I've never been in labor ever, so I have nothing to compare it to (besides a miscarriage and that was hellish). My recoveries were alright, though. Worst of it over pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteIf you do have a baby #3, and you're still in Cinci, go with Dr. Froehlich. I'm sure you've heard that before. But he'll let you try natural, if you want (he offered for me and I told him he was nuts). Plus, my scar looks fantastic with what he did, and he's more careful with what he does, so the recovery was faster (stitches you up instead of staples). Plus, they don't take the baby away from you at the hospital he prefers. So Teancom got to leave the room in my arms (not that I wanted him to be in my arms, since I was exhausted. But the nurse insisted). All-in-all, the best experience of the 3.
that was a lot of stuff:) I already knew it though:) hahaha Well you guys and Ben may have thought it was a girl but I knew it was a boy all along!:)
