A day in the life

I was talking with a friend the other night about being a Mom. We both agreed that it's a lot more work than we thought it would be but on the other hand it is very fulfilling. She asked me what my days were like and I told her "busy", she wanted to know in detail though and so I told her I would have to see how today went and I would post it on my blog for her to read. Do any of you have days like this? I'm sure you do if you are a Mother.

8:00 - Wake up, why? Kids are awake. Bianca is already sitting on the couch waiting for me to get her breakfast and Wyatt is screaming for his milk.
8:30 - Kids are fed, change diapers, get them into day clothes (I'm still in jammies)
9:00 - Have my breakfast and unload the dishwasher and put dirty dishes in
9:45 - Put Wyatt down for a nap
10:00 - Play on the playhouse disney.com website with Bianca while Wyatt is asleep
10:45 - Wyatt wakes up, feed him, change him
11:30 - I put Wyatt in the high chair so Bianca can't easily get to him and move it in front of the bathroom door so I can see him while I shower. In the meantime, Bianca is playing with my makeup, q-tips, and trying to brush her teeth in the bathroom.
11:45 - Get dressed and brush teeth, makeup, ect.
12:30 - Get socks and shoes on Bianca and put Wyatt in his seat, go to Walmart
1:00 - Get Bianca and I lunch at McDonalds on the way home
1:30 - unload groceries and eat lunch, fight with Bianca about taking her nap
2:30 - Bianca is asleep on the couch finally. Wyatt had fallen asleep in the carseat on the way home from Walmart, he wakes up as Bianca falls asleep.
2:45 - Change Wyatt's diaper, feed him
3:15 - Take Wyatt upstairs, he's too noisy and might wake up Bianca if we stay down here.
3:30 - Watch the celebrity apprentice upstairs while Wyatt plays
4:00 - Take Wyatt downstairs, put him down for a nap. Post this blog entry, watch reruns of 90210
(It's 4:00 now, but I can tell you how the rest of the day will probably go)
4:30 - Bianca wakes up and wants a snack, change her diaper
5:00 - Start making dinner, Eric is out of town so probably something simple
5:15 - Wyatt wakes up, feed him, change his diaper
5:30 - get Bianca eating her dinner, feed Wyatt his cereal
6:00 - eat my dinner, watch a show with Bianca or play train or play doh until bath time
7:00 - Bath time, take the kids upstairs for their bath, first I put Bianca in, then I hold Wyatt in the tub with her and wash him, get him out and her out, bring them both downstairs to my room where I will dress them on my bed.
7:30 - Play playhouse disney.com again with Bianca
8:00 - Feed Wyatt and Bianca milkies, watch one of Bianca's shows, probably Caillou
8:30 - Bianca will run upstairs avoiding bedtime and play a little with grandma and grandpa, Wyatt will be fussing, but won't want to go to bed yet, I'll put him in his swing for a mini nap while I do the dinner dishes and tidy up the house
9:00 - I will get Bianca downstairs to brush teeth and read books, Wyatt wakes up.
9:30 - Say prayers and put the kids to bed
9:30-10:30 - Get up and down between the two of them until they fall asleep. Sometimes I have to feed Wyatt again between 10:00 and 11:00.
11:00 - I can go to bed, yeah!!!!!!!!!

And that ladies and gentlemen is my day in a nutshell. Minus laundry. I didn't do any today.(: Yet when people ask me what I did today my response will most likely be "Nothing".

  1. I'm glad to see your days are as unproductively productive (or productively unproductive) as mine are. You know--you're busy all day long but find at the end of the day that you accomplished pretty much nothing. Good times!

  4. clever erik:) That's crazy- no wonder mothers are considered so amazing- they do a freakin lot! I don't know why you guys say nothing- you're doing a lot! You're changing the the future one kind word at a time:)

  5. Sounds like a familiar schedule to me. Motherhood is a lot of work and it never is done. Makes me feel better that I do pretty much the same thing : ).

  6. That's funny about the "nothing" part. Sometimes it seems that way, although the total opposite is usually true. I can believe that Rico went in the snow in his jammies. He's CRAAZY! :)
I've thought about writing all that I do in a day and I don't want to bc it would take too long! !!!!

  7. So true! I think I might track my day like that. My day starts and ends much earlier than yours. Carter's in bed usually by 6:30/7pm, so dinner time starts sharply at 5.
