My almost 3 year old & the garden

Before you ask, the answer is yes, he is wearing one of his sister's princess dresses and he is playing a game boy. This boy is getting quite the attitude these days, or maybe I should say personality to sound more positive. (: He definitely has his preferences and is starting to let me know.

The last couple of days he has decided he doesn't need to nap. I've been putting him down for naps about every other day now but since he knows that it's now an option instead of a must he is taking advantage of the situation. Today when I brought him home from dropping his sister off at school he plopped himself on the couch like this. When I told him he needed to come up for a nap he said this: "But Mommy, I need to play with Gaca's toys while she's at school!" Well my excuuuuuuse me! Didn't know that was on your list of things to do today Mister!

I put him in a nice gray pair of shorts this morning but he went promptly back to his room and took these red ones out instead, he said they are his favorite ones. !&%^$*#(

A brief intermission to talk about the garden. Ok so we have this HUGE yard but we chose to plant our first garden in this tiny triangle under our cooling unit right next to our house. And I'll tell you why because I know you are wondering, DEER. We grew pumpkins last year just at the base of our hill which is pretty close to our house and were amazed to find that deer had come up that far to eat them. So here goes attempt #2.

Eric will not be happy I put this picture up but I had to because it's so cute. Since we have started the garden the boy and the Daddy have bonded. I don't know what it is about boys and dirt but it's serious. Wyatt doesn't sit still for much but when Daddy is in the garden he watches, intently. He tries to help too, he kept leaning on Eric and holding onto his "crack" pardon the term but it's true. I was laughing when I saw this. Eric didn't think it was funny. haha.

Eric is very concientious when it comes to the garden. He had one growing up and he is really into tending ours. Which is nice for me. I'll tend the flowers, he can tend the veggies.

Wyatt is afraid of the sound of motorcycles and even ants, but worms he likes. Go figure...

And here are some of the fruits of Eric's labors. Some lettuce growing there in the back, then in the front, carrots, spinach and pumpkins.

Back to the boy. When he found these glasses he would not take them off. If they did fall off he would immediately put them back on, even if they were upside down, he didn't care as long as they were on. He even wore them to Tee ball. He thought he was super cool.

When I said goodnight to him tonight I called him a fish face, just a joke. He said, "No Mommy, call me baby boy." After a long day of being a big boy and frankly a big pain in my rear sometimes he still wants to be my baby boy. I'll take it. After all he is almost 3 and growing up so fast.

  2. Sounds like a typical 3 year old to me! And it's adorable! (hmmmm, wonder why I don't find MINE so adorable when she is doing the same things?) I love that at the end of the day, he still wants to be your baby boy. Melt a mama's heart!

And the gardening picture is classic...looks like they are really 'bonding' there. :)
