Preschool

Wow. I had a totally different picture in my mind of what Preschool was than what Bianca is doing. I guess when I think of school I think of children sitting down at a desk, pencils in hand, all eyes on the teacher. The kids in this preschool hardly sit still. I had the opportunity to go to class, bring a snack, and help out. Each parent takes a turn doing it. It was a lot of work! But also a lot of fun. The classroom has different stations all over. One for painting, crafts, science, puzzles, reading, pretend play, ect. So I was on one side of the classroom just watching kids and helping them with whatever they were doing and the teacher was on the other side and we kind of moved around tending to the kids. They are so busy! Going from station to station. And when clean up time came I was amazed at how well Bianca did. Considering she doesn't clean up too much at home. (:

After the activities the kids sat down to write their names. Then they had a story and went to the bathroom to wash up for snack. I put the snacks out and went out to the hall near the bathrooms where they were all lining up. They all stood and said who they wanted to pray for. Then the teacher read a prayer that was up on the wall and they went in for snack. After snack they got their back packs packed up and went outside to play on the playground.

The first day I took Bianca to school and left her there I was feeling very anxious and thinking about her the whole time she was gone. I kept looking at the clock and left extra early to "rescue" her from school. When I got there I found her happily playing in the school yard. In fact she was holding hands with a friend who she met named Kendal. It was so sweet.

I'm so glad that she likes school and is enjoying it. She can't wait to go back tomorrow. She attends wed-fri for 2 1/2 hour sessions each. On the drive home on her first day I asked her what she learned and she said, "I learned how to wait in lines." haha. But the next day she told me she learned the days of the week and told them to me. She loves to learn and is helpful to the other children too. I'm so proud of my little preschooler!
