7:30 - He comes upstairs to my room to wake me up. Luckily Daddy gets up with him at 6:00 when he wakes, then he comes downstairs, has his milk, and lays around watching TV.
7:34 - I get out of bed and stand up to put my shorts on and he's screaming for me to hold him because he thinks I will somehow leave him in my room alone?? Which by the way, I have never done.
(Wyatt in time out, he goes there at least twice a day)
8:00 - Breakfast. I make it, Bianca eats it. Wyatt takes one bite and cries "MILK!" I usually give in and let him have his milk. I get a few minutes to have breakfast, check my email, ect.8:30 - Wyatt is done with his milk. He gets up and hits Bianca in the face with his pillow case or throws a ball at her. Bianca kicks him down. Both of them are crying and both get time out. Wyatt will throw a FULL ON tantrum. Flailing arms and legs, kicking, laying on the floor. Lovely.
9:00 - Everybody upstairs to get in day clothes. I wash my hair every other morning. Wyatt cannot leave me alone in the shower. He has to be playing with the door, or walking in, getting himself all wet. He'll bring his toothbrush to me and say, "TEETH< TEETH", he wants toothpaste on the brush. And Bianca usually wants to take a bath if I'm in the shower, so I'll plop her in the bath. Then I'll hear Wyatt screaming that he wants to get in. He's been talking a lot lately. And demanding a lot, which I can't totally blame him for, he's got his sister for an example.
(Talking to Grama)
9:30 - Downstairs to play. We play in the toyroom. Bianca will usually take Wyatt's toy or vice versa and they will start fighting. So I direct them to play a game, sometimes this works, hide and seek is the family favorite. Wyatt will count with me now and find. As long as he's with me, he's happy. After we find Bianca he says, "Again, again". He is the master of repitition. The words he uses the most are "again, milk, and outside".He's getting big on ouwees too. Not sure how to spell that. If he steps on something with his barefeet, like a particle of sand, he screams, "OWEEEE MOMMY!" Until I kiss it, then it's all better. He still loves to play with marbles. I put them away a couple weeks ago bc he was putting them in the vents and smallest places he could find. But whenever we go by the living room he cries for ball balls. (Marbles). He still remembers that's where we kept them.
(Asking to go "Outside" at 7:30 a.m)
10:30 - This is when I like to do errands, IOW, when the kids are the most well behaved. As soon as I tell Bianca to get her shoes on, Wyatt heard the key word shoes and starts to cry for me to pick him up to make sure I take him. Some mornings the first word he says is "Outside". He is always wanting to wear his shoes and go outside. So I pick him up and get him in the car and then get Bianca in there. You would think with him wanting to "Go" so badly that he would get into his carseat without a fuss. Not so my friends. He puts up a fight almost every time. And he's getting very strong.10:45 - We get to our destination. Kids are good until we get to the toy aisle. Wyatt goes CRAZY for any ball that he sees, and he remembers where they are in stores. So I get him a ball and Bianca starts crying for a toy. I take Wyatt's ball away and put both crying kids into the cart. I've gotten to the point where I don't care if people are staring at me, I discipline my kids right then and there. Not that it's the funnest thing, but I've learned that if I give in if they are crying about it just to not cause a scene, it makes matters worse, the next time.
11:30 - Head home, Wyatt yells for, "hey baby" first thing when we get in the car because he wants me to put on that song by Gwen Stefani. It's getting a little old.11:45 - Lunch. Bianca eats fries and nuggets, I make some for Wyatt. He eats one fry and cries for milk again. This time I told him no, and to eat his lunch. So he sits and drinks his juice and eats one more fry.
12:30 - Naptime. Wyatt has a milk on the couch while I play Zelda. It's kind of his cue for falling asleep for his nap. One good thing. He does go down for naps well, and usually sleeps an hour to two hours.
2:30 - Wake up from nap. This is the hardest part of the day. Wyatt insists that I hold him for almost a full hour after he wakes up. He is majorly cranky. This is when I came up with his nickname, "crank and a half". He eats another milk. Then he cries for me to hold him. I can't even go to the bathroom with out him freaking out and crying for me to put him on my lap while on the toilet. I'm getting to the point where I actually try to go to the bathroom when I hear him waking up. Wait, who's in charge of this house? Yikes. Also I have to lock him out sometimes. I'm sorry but it's not pretty holding a baby on the pot.
3:30 - Snack. We have a snack and then play outside usually until 4:30 when I feed the kids dinner. Wyatt loves to play in the cars or he will get in Bianca's jeep and say "Beep, Beep". That means he wants her to give him a ride. Bianca likes to give her stuffed animals rides in strollers, in the jeep, buckle them in the car, ect. I usually take this time to clean out the garage and or one of the cars, or trim the grass.
4:30 - Dinner. One meal Wyatt will eat but this is the funny thing. He eats a little like usual but then when Eric and I sit down to dinner around 5:30 he wants to sit on my lap and eat what I am having. If I gave him the same food at his own table, he wouldn't eat it. Yet he will eat it on my lap. Forget about me eating on my own. Not happening. He sees me at the table, he's there with me.
7:00 - Bathtime. Both kids get bathed. They love this time and so do I. They play together well usually and I think the bath gears them for bed.
7:20 - Snack and show. We watch a show together or play in the toyroom for a while before bed.
8:00 - Everybody upstairs. Wyatt insists at this time that I carry him up the stairs. Other times during the day he will go up and down on his own, but at bedtime, he will stand at the bottom of the stairs and cry until I come down to get him if I go up with Bianca or on my own. We read books in Bianca's room, say a prayer and then Wyatt goes in our room on the couch for one last milk and a book with one parent and the other parent stays with Bianca and sings a song or just lays on her floor until she falls asleep.
8:45 - Kids are asleep and I can finally relax and watch a show with Eric. Usually one of both of us falls asleep mid show. Ahhh quality time.
This is how the days go most of the time, we have a little flexibility of course. But you can see how Wyatt is learning how to demand things and I'm seeing by writing this post that he is ruling this roost! I don't give in all the time, but you Mom's know how it is, pick your battles. And it's not like the whole day is a battle. We have our nice moments. Wyatt does give kisses and say I love you and play well with Bianca. I'm just surprised at how strong his will is at this early age. I also think that like his sister he is very smart. Thank you Daddy. Eric is unusually smart. (: That is what I say. His memory is superb, and I think that's what makes him stand out in the crowd. If only we could remember everything we've learned in school, think of how smart we would be, that's him. My kids, get bored easily and are very focused and stubborn. And they both Remember everything! Anyway that's what I'm blaming it on, smarts. For now, until they flunk out of school. haha.
So if you ever think you are going to go crazy with some cranky kids, don't worry, you aren't the only one!
It's really amazing how each household is so different. I think I will write down one of our typical days so that I can get a sense of patterns and such. I certainly understand about demanding kids though - it's hard to be the Mom when you don't feel like you're in control.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a long day. Good thing he's so dang cute!
ReplyDeleteSpencer makes me kiss all of his booboos too and he gets a lot because he is that kind of kid. I got to a point where I just blow him a kiss. It works for him. You may want to try.
ReplyDeleteGotta love that age : ). I can't believe how much hair he's getting now. Even though he's a "crank" he sure is cute!
