Butt Butt

This is our nickname for Bianca. We had to come up with one since she has been pushing our buttons lately, it's kind of a love name, kind of a "hey you are a pain in the butt" name. This is an example of what I'm talking about:

I found her like this, yes, she is licking the printer. She has taken to licking things around the house, she also fancies wiping her dirty face on the carpet, couch, or me. Here is another example:

A few days ago this is where bear ended up, I had to take him away and put him there during one of Bianca's tantrums. She wanted to dip a chip in ranch, I told her no, because she makes a huge mess when she does this. She didn't take no for an answer, tried to climb up into the fridge to get it down and then wouldn't go into time out. So I took bear away. I told her she could have him back if she did her time out. This is what she did next: (and no, it wasn't taking her time out)
She found every chair in the house to try to climb up on to reach bear. This lasted about 20 minutes. With her frantically trying to get higher by placing chairs, tables, whatever she could find next to each other. Still 30 minutes later, no time out. FInally after about an hour she took it.
This is how it goes at least once a day. I would say that age 3 is a lot tougher than 2. The terrible two's are nothing compared to this. Today she didn't want to take her pajama top off to go to the store. She changed her pants but refused to change her shirt. I had to get in the car and pretend like I was going to drive away (30 minutes after the tantrum started) before she would even consider to change. The girl is STUBBORN! She is such a good girl, or was until she turned 3. Now she always seems to be up to mischief, taking toys away from Wyatt, sneaking him and herself treats, washing her hands and covering the entire bathroom with hand soap, just anything you can think of. I love her to death but please tell me this will end soon! I feel so mean sometimes but she has to know I mean business, otherwise, she walks all over me.

  1. LOL! OMG. The story of my life. Around our house, Cookies are the issue. That's all Carter wants, 24/7. If he doesn't get it, tantrums and screaming.

Also, he hits us. We've been doing little swats and timeouts, which work a little. Man, I hope the 3's aren't worse.

Hang in there. You are not alone.

  5. Preston has also taken to licking things. Last sunday his nursery teacher said that he was acting like a cat and licking everything. He now has hand, mouth and foot virus. Weirdo. He must take after his father

  6. lOL Isaiah has gotten into hitting and licking too. Guess it's something all kids do. Isaiah's turned into a mini terror too- one thing that works sometimes is to have a star chart- did I show you that? Every time he obeys right away, he gets a star, then after five stars he gets a treat. I drew a picture of the treat for him to see. It's helped a lot, but that still doesn't mean he always obeys right away. Try something like that maybe to pay more attention to the good things she does. Time out is a hard one- getting them there. I have to figure that one out myself with Isaiah. He'll do anything to not go there, then otherwise, I tell him just to sit down where he's at and he can't get up until I say so. On Jon and Kate plus 8 they have time out in each room. I'll even keep my hand on him to make him stay there if he's really throwing a fit about it. He hates that. :)
WOw- I have a chance to write all of this. LOVE IT. Hang in there and let me know if anything works.

  7. Such a hard stage, but yes I'm here to tell you it does pass. I remember the days when I felt like all I ever did was get after Braden and discipline. So not fun! I think every age has its good and bad, but I'll take age 6 over age 3 any day! And now it's scary now that I know what's ahead in a year when I have two 3 year olds!! Yikes!!!!

On another note - we miss you guys!!

  8. Wow. Tough times! Good for you standing firm. At least you know she has the tenacity to really accomplish something in life! (Once she gets past being 3). :)
