Thanksgiving/Christmas

Thanksgiving is always left out of the holidays, commercially anyway. The day after Halloween we went to Walmart and they already had the Christmas decorations out. Which led me to put them up in my own house, a decision I am quickly regretting as Bianca had gotten into/broken everything. I had the stockings out and she kept pulling on those to put her Halloween candy in them. So I put those away. I got out Daddy's simpson train, that was the worst, she wanted to play with it like a toy of course, which made me sweat because every piece costs around $20.00. that went up in the bookshelf so she couldn't reach it. Basically I went to alot of work only to put most of it away again.

Thanksgiving, I am looking forward to. I always love that holiday. Because I love the food, and being with family. And I don't know why, well I guess I do, because it's alot of work, but why we only make that meal once a year. Usually we go to our cousins house for Thanksgiving, which has been awesome to be with family and have a great meal, that I didn't have to make. One major drawback however, no leftovers! So this year we are having Thanksgiving at home. Yay! I was wondering does everyone basically have the same dishes for this holiday? This is what we usually have: (beware, this will make you hungry) Turkey, cranberry relish, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, rolls, stuffing (which I was reminded of by my sister) sparkling cider. If you have anything different you do, please post in comments, I'd like to know. And I know it's a little early but I wanted to tell you before I say Merry Christmas...Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. it's true- thanksgiving is missed out on- I already started putting up Christmas decorations too- but my excuse is that I don't have any Thanksgiving decorations:)

  3. Pie, pie, pie, pie, pie. Also, yams-I like either mashed yams or yams and apples. We don't have any decorations here in NY-Christmas or otherwise!

  4. That menu sounds pretty close to ours--I'd just add (in addition to what others have mentioned) a sweet potato (yams) dish. That's my contribution each year, since Oswaldo loves sweet potatoes, and I have lots of recipes on hand. :) Oh, and don't forget the gravy! Okay. Now I'm hungry. At least Thanksgiving is early this year... only a week to go!
