Naps

This last week Bianca has been giving us a hard time about naps, doing everything she could to avoid them. One day after attempting 2-3 times to put her down, I decided to just let her stay up.
Later that day she was acting crazy and carrying her Hello Kitty stepstool around the house to get up on counter tops ect. I told her that I would put her in time out if she didn't put the stool back with her play kitchen where if belongs. She started to take the stool back and tripped over a blanket on the floor and fell face first into the stool. There are little tooth marks towards the bottom of the flower ring where she hit her teeth. (I outlined it on the picture and you can see them if you click on the picture and scroll down).
Eric and I were sitting at the dinner table eating when it happened and Eric rushed over to get her. She cried a long time and he brought her to me. Her mouth was bleeding pretty badly. I tried to look in it to see if she cut her lip or if it was her teeth. I put some cold water on a rag and held it in her mouth. I wiggled her teeth a little and they felt a little loose but they were still in place.I rocked her and she fell asleep right away, which scared Eric and I. I think she was in a little bit of a shock. Her skin was pale, and we couldn't read her correctly anyway with the tiredness since she had missed her nap. I layed her down on the couch to rest and blood was just pouring out the side of her mouth so we decided to call a dentist. Luckily I was able to get ahold of a pediatric dentist in the area and he said he would see us. It was 7 p.m. so it was after hours.
Eric was really upset the whole time, pacing back and forth and going through different scenarios. He gets really stressed when anything happens to Bianca and he even made the comment that he might be ok with just having two kids, because he can't handle when they get hurt. Poor guy. I was upset too but I have to admit after going through that rotavirus last February I feel like nothing could be too bad. Kids get hurt, and I knew that she would be ok.
We went to the dentist and Bianca was very brave. With tears running down her face she let the Dr. look with his mirror in her mouth. He said that the teeth looked like they had been pushed up into the gums a little but it wasn't too bad. He said she could have some discoloration and that he needed to take an x-ray in a couple of weeks to check the roots. It was a quick appointment but Eric and I felt better that we had a dentist look at her. We brought her home and gave her some Ibuprofen, and she went to bed pretty easily that night.
She is fine now. Her teeth are a little more bucked than they were before, but at least they are still baby teeth.
Needless to say, we think Bianca was extra clumsy because she missed her nap so she will not be missing one again anytime soon.

  1. Oh my! Scary. Glad you were both there and that the dentist got you in. Glad everything turned out okay.
