EC?

Bianca knows sign language very well, thanks to the signing time videos, but she has gotten into the habit of using sign or pointing and grunting instead of saying words the past few months. Sooo we have been working with her everyday on getting her to talk more. She has been talking more now but it's hard to figure out what she is trying to say sometimes. For example "EC". The past two weeks she has been saying "EC" and putting her hand up. We were puzzled until one day I hid one of her animals under her blanket and I said, "Where is it?" and she copied me by saying "EC?" and putting her hands up. Needless to say we are starting to be able to communicate better. The next thing we want her to learn is how to say her name, which isn't easy. I just laughed when I found out what EC meant and I thought I would share.

  1. So is EC one of her animals then?

  2. Carter hasn't started signing yet, but that is one thing I am worried about (him signing instead of talking). But it sounds like she's coming around. She's still little. My nephew who is about 2 1/2 doesn't talk much yet.
Put some more belly pictures! I want an update.

  3. No Staci, EC is how she says "Where is it?"

  4. To Jennifer:
Don't worry about the signing slowing down his talking. I'm glad Bianca does sign because at least she can tell us what she wants, I don't think the signing is keeping her from talking, I just think she is not making the effort to talk as much as she should.

  5. That's cute about "EC". I'm worried Carter's first word might be a bad one. Eric and I are trying to clean our mouths out lately.

He said "mama" today, but I think it was more babble than anything else.

  6. That's really cool that she tries to say, Where is it?" because Isaiah does that too! Has Staci told you about the game he plays?
